Hopewell Church of God, established in 1858, has stood as a lighthouse to our community since before Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. Today we still stand as a lighthouse to all of Seneca County, upholding the traditional values of faith that have made us strong, while embracing a bold vision for the future that reaches beyond our generation and into the next.

Affiliated with the Churches of God General Conference, headquartered in Findlay, Ohio; (founders of the University of Findlay and Winebrenner Seminary), Hopewell has been home to many noteworthy pastors, lay leaders, and educators throughout it's history.

We Believe……….

1. God is eternal and is revealed to us as God the Father & Creator ; Jesus Christ His only begotten Son, the Word made flesh, our Redeemer ; and the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and Counselor. These Three are One in plan and purpose. (1 John 5:7 KJV)

2. The Bible is God's Word and we believe it is an infallible authority, and our only rule of faith and practice. ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17 & 2 Peter 1:21 )

3. Salvation is a work of grace provided through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ. Due to Man's fallen state, regeneration is imperative. "Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be Born Again." (John 3:7 )

4. Believer's Baptism by immersion as a willing act of obedience once we have received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. (Matthew 3:15-16, Mark 1:10, Acts 8:38)

5. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit to live a victorious Christian life. (Acts 1: 8 )

TRADITIONAL OR CONTEMPORARY ?

This question is often asked when someone is searching for a church to attend today, and the thought remains: "Why must we settle for either?" The so-called Worship Wars of the seventies and eighties led to division and strife between those who preferred a contemporary service and those who favored a more traditional service; totally defeating the purpose behind worship, to bring people together in unity. Jesus explained: "Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old." Matthew 13:52 NIV Hopewell Church of God has done just that. Each week we bring together a beautiful blend of both new treasures, as well as old. Some of your favorite inspirational hymns, as well as up-to-date, modern choruses with a contemporary beat. We believe that the familiar favorites have a rich depth and tradition to offer our young people, and the up-beat, contemporary choruses of today can inspire life and vitality in our senior saints.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16 KJV

TECHNOLOGY
In today's ever-changing world of technology, the Church is being challenged in ways never before imagined. Hopewell Church of God has embraced this new technology as a tool to better present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that is lost.

1. MULTI-MEDIA WORSHIP EXPERIENCE They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, at Hopewell, we have incorporated a multi-media Power Point presentation into our worship services. The old hymns come alive as majestic mountains form the backdrop to "How Great Thou Art". Sermons become more memorable as "The Prodigal Son" is illustrated by a father and his two sons. Scriptures take on new meaning as they appear on the screen in various translations, all working together to make your worship experience something meaningful and relevant to your life.

2. WEEKLY E-MAIL UPDATES One of the wonders of our modern technology is the ability to communicate instantly and at great distances. At Hopewell Church of God we send out a weekly e-mail update to keep you aware of what is going on at our church. So even if you are out of town, you can still know what is happening. If you would like to receive our weekly inspirational and informative update, please e-mail us at hopewellchurchofgod@bright.net and we will include you in our weekly mailings.

3. VIDEOS & TEACHING SERIES Today we are blessed with the ability to bring into our churches some of the best preachers, teachers, comedians and dramatic stories. At Hopewell we periodically offer unique, fun, inspiring and informational video series to enhance your faith.

DRAMA & PUPPETS
Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables, or illustrations, so that He could drive home the message He was trying to convey. At Hopewell Church of God, we incorporate a variety of methods to drive home the message. We have an active Drama Team that will cause you to both laugh and cry as you see and hear God's Word demonstrated in a way you will never forget. We also have a puppet ministry that not only has the kids giggling, but also the adults!
